Fort Lauderdale, Florida Fishing Reports

Fishing Improves With The Weather 6/9/13

After several days of heavy rains and high seas because of Tropical Storm Andrea we were finally able to get out and do some fishing offshore yesterday. Anglers fishing with me aboard the Reel Work out of Fort Lauderdale had a great day catching kingfish, bonito, tuna, mahi, tilefish and amberjack.

We started the day catching some bait then heading offshore to do some trolling. We caught some king mackerel, bonito and blackfin tuna. I spotted some debris lines and we managed to catch a few mihi-mahi. We stopped on some wrecks on the way back to the docks and caught several tilefish and amberjack on live baits. It ended up being a fun day of fishing for everybody.

Fort Lauderdale Fishing Report 6/5/2013

Anglers fishing with me aboard the Reel Work out of Fort Lauderdale Florida have been catching mahi-mahi and blackfin tuna along with a few bottom fish. Our anglers had a good day last week landing several mahi and a big tuna. When the offshore action slowed we set up on a couple of wrecks and had fun catching bottom fish. There are also a few kingfish and bonito around as well.
June is a good month to catch a nice variety of fish. Trolling will usually produce mahi and tuna. Bottom fishing wrecks can be even more productive producing snapper, grouper, tilefish, amberjack, baracuda and king mackerel.

Big Kings And Tuna Off Ft. Lauderdale

blackfin tuna

Anglers deep sea fishing with me aboard the Reel Work out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida this week were kept entertained by large blackfin tuna and king mackerel. Blackfin tuna are found in the western Atlantic Ocean from Massachusetts south to Brazil, including the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea. They are a highly migratory species that can grow to around 45 lbs. The gulf stream keeps them near our shores for much of the year. King mackerel are known as one of the fastest fish in the ocean. There drag screaming runs have earned the name of smokers. They average between 20 and 30 lbs but can get up to 90 lbs. King mackerel have an almost identical range as the blackfin tuna. The prefered method for catching both blackfin tuna and king mackerel is by trolling live and dead bait fish, spoons, jigs and artificial lures.

Late Season Sailfish Bite

Anglers fishing with me aboard the Reel Work out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida have been treated to a good late season sailfish bite this week. The sailfish usually move past Ft Lauderdale by early May in search of cooler waters to our north so this was a nice surprise for me and our anglers. Our anglers have also been catching a good number of sharks along with some mahi-mahi, blackfin tuna, king mackerel and bonito. I can’t predict how long the sailfish bite will last but I do expect the mahi, tuna, mackerel and bonito bite to be good through out the summer.

Mays Mixed Bag Of Offshore Fishing

Anglers deep sea fishing with me aboard the Reel Work out of Fort Lauderdale Florida have been treated to a nice mix of fish. Bonito have been the most consistent catch but we have also landed blackfin tuna, king mackerel and some sharks. Mid to late May is a great time for these “mixed bag” fishing days. As the days become longer and the water begins to warm up you never know what you might catch. We often catch bonito, tuna, kingfish, mahi and even a few sailfish while trolling. Snapper, grouper tilefish and sharks will often be caught while bottom fishing. The mix of fish can make for some fun days of fishing so fill in the form on the left side of this page or give us a call to set up your Fort Lauderdale fishing charter.

Hatteras 100 RPH

Hatteras Yachts of New Bern, NC is busy building and preparing there new flagship yacht, the 100 RPH (Raised Pilothouse) for its debut at the 2013 Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show. The 100 RPH features a curvy, low profile exterior designed with pitched supports and eye-catching hardtop. The unique exterior design is a result of a collaboration between Hatteras and famed Italian designer Enrico Gobbi and the Italy-based Team For Design (T4Design). Interior design of the yacht, as with every yacht Hattreas builds, will be a result of a joint effort between the Hatteras design team and the yachts owner. Configuration of the interior can be changed to fit the owners needs and wishes. The master stateroom will be available on the main deck instead of the more traditional below deck layout as will the country kitchen and salon. The end result will be a reflection of the owners personal taste, design, and aspirations.

Ft Lauderdale Deep Sea Fishing 4-25-2013

Bonita
Anglers fishing with me aboard the Reel Work out of Fort Lauderdale have been treated to a good week of fishing. We began catching a good number of bonito over the last week. They usually don’t begin to show up in our offshore waters until sometime in May. Bonito are not very good to eat but they are a lot of fun to catch. They are fast, can grow up to about 20lbs and produce great runs. When you find a school the action is non stop until they decide to move on. Bonito are not the only fish we have been catching. Our anglers are also catching some blackfin tuna, king mackerel and sailfish.

The fishing is good and should stay that way for quite a while. We have a few charters available for the next few weeks but you should book early to make sure to get the day you want. Click on Contact in the navigation menue above, give us a call at 1-877-524-9377 or fill out the form on the left hand side of this page to set up your Fort Lauderdale deep sea fishing adventure.

Great Spring Fishing Continues

Ft Lauderdale Offshore Fishing Is Good

Springtime fishing continues to be good offshore of Fort Lauderdale. Anglers fishing with me aboard the Reel Work have been catching sailfish, kingfish and blackfin tuna. During the few times the surface bite has slowed down we have have had good luck bottom fishing.

On April 5th the weather was kind of rough making it difficult to spot bait fish pods. Our anglers and crew hung in there and were rewarded with a big king mackerel. Later in the afternoon we set up on some wrecks and other bottom structure and had a great afternoon of bottom fishing. Last Tuesday we had a fun day. Our anglers caught several kingfish and a nice blackfin tuna in between the 6 sailfish bites we had. Anglers and crew did a great job managing to land 4 out of the 6 sailfish.

The South Florida weather is starting to heat up and so is the fishing. Book your Fort Lauderdale fishing charter today and get in on the action. Click on the Contact link above, fill in the form on the left side of this page or give us a call at 1-877-524-9377 to set up your charter.

A Great Day Of Sailfish Fishing

We had a really good day catching sailfish off of Fort Lauderdale yesterday. Between the two charters I took out we ended up hooking 7 sailfish and landing 5 of them. Anglers and crew fishing with me aboard the Reel Work out of Ft. Lauderdale did an outstanding job getting that many fish o the boat. Our morning charter landed 2 out of the 3 fish we hooked. Several other sailfish were spotted but did not bite. Our afternoon charter was even better with 3 out of the 4 sailfish hooked making it to the boat. Again, we saw several other sails but were unable to get them to bite. Our sailfish bite has been outstanding for over a month now. I expect the fish to stick around for at least another month. Give us a call or use the contact form in the sidebar to set up your Fort Lauderdale sailfish charter today.

Spring Into Great Offshore Fishing

It is spring break in Fort Lauderdale and the schools of fish are as thick as the college kids on the beach. Anglers fishing with me this week aboard the Reel Work out of Fort Lauderdale were treated to blackfin tuna, kingfish, sailfish and even bluefish. On Thursday our anglers caught a bunch of blackfin tuna. These are a fun fish to catch and are good eating. They also landed a nice king mackerel and 1 out of the 3 sailfish we hooked. We also got into a big school of bluefish. Although bluefish are prevalent in most of Florida’s waters, we don’t usually catch them off of Fort Lauderdale.
Fishing is excellent right now and will get even better as the weather continues to get warmer. Book your deep sea fishing charter with us today to get in on the action!
