Late Season Front Slows Bite

Fishing was slow over the past week due to a late season cold front. I have heard of a few sailfish, mahi-mahi and kingfish around but we have not caught any. Anglers fishing with me aboard the Reel Work out of Fort Lauderdale have switched gears and started targeting bonito, sharks and tilefish. We managed to catch several bonito, a small shark and a few tilefish yesterday. The slow fish bite has been due to an unusually strong cold front that settled in over Florida this last week. Spring is here though so the cold weather should be behind us. Forecast highs are in the 80’s for the rest of the week. I expect the sailfish bite to pick back up to where it was before the front within the next few days.
