Fort Lauderdale Fishing Report 2-9-2013
Deepsea fishing has finally started to improve offshore of Fort Lauderdale. I’m still not seeing any sailfish around but mahi-mahi, sharks and king mackerel have moved back into the area. Grey tilefish have been biting pretty good too.
Gray tilefish are still making up the majority of our catches. They are a deep water species usually found in 400 feet of water or more. Tilefish are a good food fish with firm, tender meat that has a mild flavor similar to grouper.
Big kingfish also started showing up this week providing our anglers with some added excitement. These are some of the fastest, hardest fighting fish in the sea and produce impressive drag smoking runs.
