Fort Lauderdale Sailfish On Kites

We had a great day of fishing last Sunday. Anglers on or afternoon charter offshore of Fort Lauderdale caught two nice sailfish off of kites. Kite fishing for sailfish can be extremely effective. A small kite attached to a sturdy reel and short pole is launched from the deck of the boat. Clips attached to the kites line hold the lines from your fishing rods usually rigged with a live bait. The fishing line hangs just far enough below the clip to allow your bait to sit on or just below the surface of the water. When a fish eats your bait the clip on the kite line releases the fishing line allowing you to fight the fish. The bait dancing across the top of the water drives sailfish crazy resulting in some of the most exciting strikes you will ever see. Sailfish season is in full swing in Fort Lauderdale and South Florida.
