Fort Lauderdale Fishing Charters
by Captain Walter Shaw
Other then a few days of strong winds and rough seas, Ft Lauderdale deep sea fishing has been good for the last week. Anglers aboard the Reel Work have been catching blackfin tuna, bonita, grouper, mahi-mahi, wahoo, sharks, sailfish and even a rare white marlin.
February 29th was special not just because it only comes around every 4 years, this leap day our anglers had a great fishing adventure catching bunches of tasty blackfin tuna and drag screeming bonita. When the action slowed down on the surface we droped our lines on a ship wreck and landed some grouper. Last Saturday lucky anglers aboard the Reel Work were treated to a white marlin. Although the white marlin is a fairly common catch around Maryland, they are a rare catch off of Ft. Lauderdale. The sailfish were also biting good on Saturday. Anglers fishing with us today had a nice mix of tuna, mahi-mahi and some wahoo. We also droped lines on some wrecks and landed sharks and a bunch of nice bottom fish. Look for the fishing to get even better as March heats up.
